Extensive catalog of carbon brushes and power tools

A carbon brush is a carbon brush is a carbon brush, right? Without knowing which carbon brush to choose, that would certainly be the case. Over time, we build up a catalog of more than 20,000 different powertools, and made it available at this site.

We believe it's this catalog and the ease to find the right carbon brush, what makes our site unique.

Recommendations for the good use of carbon brushes:

1:
If the carbon brushes are used with cut-off device, then they should have it in both of the pair, otherwise you risk that if one wears out more than the other then it will not stop the tool and can damage the collector.

2:
You should always change the 2 brushes in the pair, even if one of them has not totally worn out.

3:
We call ‘patina’ to the mark left on the collector with the use of carbon brushes. It’s a mixture of graphite and copper oxide…they say 1000 times thinner than a human hair! If the patina is smooth and regular it’s a good proof that the brush performance has been correct. If it has irregular spots, burned parts….then it’s not so good news!

4:
If the carbon brush has not performed properly, then it’s important to clean off with a cloth the collector, so it will not affect the correct performance of the new brush.

5:
It’s not good to clean the brush with cleaning liquids as graphite is porous and it can affect its performance.

6:
Additional lubrication it’s not advisable, graphite is auto-lubricant and in case of extra lubrication carbon brush manufacturers should be the ones applying it.

Large collection of carbon brushes

We started out with the product range of our main manufacturer, which contained about 700 different carbon brushes. Since then, we added the product ranges of various specialist carbon brush manufacturers. Additionally, when we come across a new carbon brush, we often commission a production batch of it, further enlarging our product range.

Carbon brushes available from stock

The bulk of our carbon brushes is stocked in our warehouses, ready for shipment. Actually, we usually have about 40,000 carbon brushes in stock. What this means for you:

  • You get your carbon brushes quickly: No lead or production time
  • Cheap: These are mass-produced products that perfectly suit their job. Not one-off products, custom designed by a team of engineers flown in from all over the world.

We surely welcome orders for large quantities of carbon brushes. Nevertheless, our primary focus is on the end-users of carbon brushes, both businesses and individuals. Therefore, our carbon brushes are usually packed in pairs, for you need to replace a pair at at time.

Bespoke carbon brushes

If the unspeakable happens, and we don't have an off-the-shelf carbon brush that suits your needs: Changes are that we can engineer a solution. Sometimes, all it needs is to sand off a couple of millimeters off an existing carbon brush. Or combine parts of different existing carbon brushes. And sometimes we need a sample that we ship off to a manufacturer to get replicated.

When you can't find a suitable carbon brush, please phone us, or drop us an e-mail, preferably with photos of the old carbon brush and the exact dimensions of the carbon brush. Depending on the case, it might help if you can send us a sample.
